I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Hazel Faye: 2 Months

Weight/Length: 11.2 lbs and 22.5 inches long

Diapers: Size 1

Clothing: 0-3 to 3 months

Eating: Breastfeeding 6-8 times a day

Sleeping: Around 8pm to 6am straight through 5/7 nights a week!

We've been a family of 5 for two crazy months!  This second month was definitely much more smoother than the first.  First we celebrated Hazel's first New Year!  As newborns do, she slept through it all and none of us made it to midnight.

Happy New Year!

Then celebrated Mama turning 32!

The BEST part of this month was around 6 weeks Hazel starting sleeping long stretches through the night!  I'm not sure how we get blessed each child, or if it's my breast milk or what but so far each kiddo we make starts sleeping through the night around 6-8 weeks.  Thank God.  This time was ROUGH.  She wakes up only in the middle of the night when she wiggles a hand out.  She'll wake up and squawk with eyes wide open until I re swaddle her and give her a little snack.  She's not a huge napper during the day and not consistent yet.  The longest she'll nap is 1 hour at a time, but hey I'll take it!  She still naps swaddled in our room.  We don't have a crib for her yet since Scarlett is still using our only crib, so until Scarlett transitions we'll leave her be.  Plus when I'm gone at night for work Kit wants her in the room with him.  So far now we'll keep our new room mate!

First time sleeping through the night!

She's still nursing really well.  I was very relieved to see that she's gained two pounds this month since our weight gain was a little slow in the beginning.  Since she doesn't nurse at night she nurses every 2-3 hours during the day to get in all her calories she needs.  I've got about 120 ounces stashed in the deep freeze so far, awesome start for when I go back to work in a few weeks.  She'll still taking a bottle well.  Hopefully it holds steady.

This month she's edged out of that sleepy newborn stage into a bright eyed, cooing, interactive baby.  I love it!  She makes a weird chirping sound when we change her diaper and never cries during a diaper change (so odd)!  She loves looking into the mirror and up at moving ceiling fans.  She'll get so excited and move her arms and kick her feet.  She lights up when her sisters come home and lay next to her with their loud stories and tickling little hands.  She coos back at us when we hold her close to our faces and talk to her.  Kit even howled like a wolf to her and she tried to howl back.

First hockey game!

She gives us ALL the smiles!  More than any of our other kids that I can remember this early.  She smiles after milk, when we walk into the room, when we talk to her and at her big sisters.  We can't get enough.

I'm dying.

We're working in as much tummy time as she'll tolerate and trying to keep her limber for rolling over when she's ready.  We started venturing out on the weekends now for outings and that has made this new life with her seem much more our "normal".  We are a family that doesn't keep well inside, in front on a TV or cooped up in our home all weekend.  We love being outside, visiting parks and museums, walking through markets and festivals and playing in coffee shops.  Having another winter baby in the worst RSV season Tulsa has seen has made this so hard and made transitioning with the older kids hard because we've kept indoors a lot more than what our normal is.  SO it's been so nice venturing out and about!  When we do she typically rides in the K'Tan wrap.  She doesn't mind it so far.

This next month will have some big changes for Miss Hazel!  Mama will start back at work which means daycare for our Hazel.  She'll have to leave the comfort of home and Mama a few days a week, but it will be good for all of us.  I'm anxious to get started and really get into our new normal with 3 kids.

We love this little girl, her open mouth smiles, thick thigh rolls and bright blue eyes.  We know she'll just keep getting better and better from here!

First snow!

My crazy life!

First time wearing her like this!
