I've lived in Florida now 16 months and haven't seen a lighthouse, so last weekend we made it happen. We took a little day trip to St George's Island to see our first one, about 1:15 minute drive from Panama City, FL. This particular lighthouse was originally built in 1833, but given the 3 hurricanes that have wiped it off the map it's been rebuilt four times. It's 72 ft tall and rebuilt with some original brick.

We loved this little day trip |
We highly recommend this little site if you're in the area. It was $5/adult or free with military ID, and there is even a little museum you can tour too. A fun use of a hour here on the island.
