I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Benchmark #7-TX/OK

My second TDY for the year is coming to an end! I had the opportunity to hit TX again for some additional AF training, so that meant another one-way 17 hour drive with the pup! Luckily we're road trip champs, and did pretty well. The training was about 3 weeks long, so that meant I had about 3 weekends in central USA to see family! The first weekend I headed to Abilene to see the in-laws!

Then for our second week in TX, Zeus and I took advantage of the dog parks and yummy places to eat. He loved hotel living a little too much.

The second weekend we headed to our first home after we graduated college, the in-laws house by the lake! That place will always have a place in our hearts as "home". We hiked, checked out the brand spanking new 5 star hotel, shopped, wine-tasted and watched all 3 dogs run a muck!

We needed the recharge, but it definitely made me miss the husband extra that weekend.

Finally our last weekend in the midwest! We took advantage of the three-day weekend (labor day) and headed even further north to Enid, OK. We tested out Enid's newly established trails and hung out with my family!

Also I finally did something pretty drastic, looks wise. I finally had the guts to cut about 12 inches off my hair and donate it to locks of love! I've been wanting to do it since February but I only trusted my hair stylist at home to cut this drastic of a cut on me. I absolutely love it! It will definitely take some getting used to since it's been about 15 years since it's been this short..but I figured with all the change about to happen it my life with the weight loss finally happening, husband's homecoming and finally embarking on our next chapter as a family together...that it was time. If ever there was a time, it was now!

Also I got to see my dear best friend (my rock), her husband (who served along side my husband in this deployment) and their sweet kids! Only 3 more months until we're reunited!

Now with a truck loaded way heavier (with tee shirts, OK/TX beer) than when we left Florida, it's time to head back home. I roughly have one last weekend to prep the house and get a million things done to the house before (fingers crossed twice) the husband returns home! 10 months and still counting...

This TDY definitely came at the perfect time. An amazing distraction, chance to re-connection with friends and family, and a fast forward through 3 more weeks!
