I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Norah June: 4 Months Old

Her infamous open mouth smile

Taller than Murph finally!

Weight and Height: 14 lbs 9 oz and 24 inches long, she over doubled her birth weight!

Eyes and Hair: Bright blue eyes and lots of white peach fuzz growing in, hello blondie!

Diapers: Size 2

Clothes: 3-6 month or 6 month

Eating: EBF 4-6 times a day (still no bottle at daycare)

Sleeping: 7-12 hours straight through

What an incredibly crazy month we had, and full of the most changes/challenges thus far.  She's 1/3 the way to toddler-hood, and I'm shocked each month how quickly it has passed.  The days are short, the weeks are long, but the month is even quicker.  She really is the easiest baby.  She hardly ever cries.  She always sleeps through the night (even if Mommy doesn't).  She loves to smile and laugh, and is always so content.  She acclimates so well to strangers (thank you daycare).  She really is our little "trick" baby!

Norah is changing so fast and each month I say it, but it's my favorite!  She just found her thumb so she's been sucking that like crazy.  Blowing bubbles like a machine!  Also shoves EVERYTHING into her cute little mouth that she can grab (spit rag, toys, hem of her clothes, my arm and fingers, Zeus's tail...).  Speaking of her hands I swear they've gotten bigger, weird thing to notice right?  And so much stronger grip too!  One of my favorite things is when she touches her little feet together.  I don't know why, but it stops me in my tracks every time.  She's SO close to grabbing those cute feet!  The day she turned 16 weeks she rolled onto her tummy for the first time, Go Norah!  She still loves bath time, and who doesn't love a clean smelling baby?  She reaches for toys now when she's in her saucer and of course they go straight into her mouth.  Her favorite book is still "Where is baby's bellybutton?".  I swear she anticipates me flipping the flaps up now.  One of the best ways to coax a smile is to kiss her feet (I might do this 20 times a day) or to give her big loud kisses on her chubby cheeks.  She loves her kisses, and I'm more than happy to oblige.  She's found her big girl voice!  Big happy screams and I encourage her with plenty of girl talks and smiles.  She still loves to stand.  Her eyes light up so much and she gets a half smile anytime she's pulled to her feet.  She always looks so proud!

This was her first month in daycare, and I think it's going really well.  The only downside is the sickness that comes with it, but I've heard that daycare kids have better immunities in school so there's a silver lining!  I guess it's better to be sick now when they don't know any better.  Since she's been in daycare she's conquered one case of pink eye, one nasty cough and currently battling congestion.  She gets plenty of tummy time, story time and even singing time.  I feel really comfortable leaving her there.  Little Miss Stubborn still won't take a bottle consistently so I nurse her every day during my lunch hour.  Honestly I love visiting her, so I don't mind a bit.  She's strong willed to go 5 hours at a time with no snack though!

As for breastfeeding, it's going so smooth.  She's over doubled her birth weight!  I'm so proud.  During the week I pump once in the morning, feed her at lunch (big meal!) then pump again in the afternoon.  Since she's not eating any bottles I'm banking milk fast in my deep freezer!  I'm looking into donation centers now.  I have about 500 ounces.  Holy Cow!  My MIL thinks I have really hearty milk and that's why Norah can sleep through the night and hold out at daycare.  Hey whatever works.  My husband has had me start signing "milk" to her every time before I feed her since she was about 6 weeks old.  I didn't think to start that early, but he wanted to so why not.  The daycare providers do it too when they try to give her a bottle.  The cool thing is within the last 3-4 weeks she smiles now when I sign "milk" before we breastfeed.  I love it!  She gets it!  Pretty freaking cool.  Clever girl.

This month was such a busy, full of changes month for both of us.  The hardest part was saying goodbye to her Daddy.  We had to say goodbye to Dad, start daycare, I started back at work full time, and we even squeezed in a bit of traveling.  Since then we've found a new routine, and we're both doing the best we can.  We recently flew to Oklahoma for the first time (first solo plane ride with baby for me!) so that she could spend some time with Daddy and meet some people she hadn't yet!  She did really well, and we can't wait for our next big visit in December!

"Mom don't go"

First day of daycare...I cried.  She smiled!

She gets so giddy around the boob.

Pink eye, but still smiling!

Clean baby!

I took this to remember this moment.  I had to sing John Legend to her all the way home or else she'd scream.  She kept eye contact with me through the mirror the whole way just to make sure I held up by end of the deal.

Beach babe

Kissing those feet makes her giggle

I love when she touches them together.

Those baby blues are stunning.

This is how she always eats with fierce eye contact for Mommy.  I took this so I'll never forget.

Hands ALWAYS in her mouth,

My little peeker, always so curious on our walks.

No slumping here!
