I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Lucy Mae: 7 Months

Here we are, over halfway to one!  Lucy is doing so well. The biggest update I want to lead with is she's OFFICIALLY graduated from her hip dysplasia brace!  We saw our ortho in the beginning of January and he said her hips look beautiful.  There is a chance that she could need further bracing in the future if they start to slide back, but I think I can safely say we can rule surgery out for good.  I'm so thankful she's progressed so well! I also can't say enough great things about the P.A. who we've been working with.

As far as milestones go, she's trucking right along!  We've started putting her in the boppy pillow to help her practicing sitting up.  She's wobbly, but I can't believe she can hold her big self up for a few minutes at a time already!  Kit swears she's saying "Dada" but I haven't heard it yet so it doesn't count.  She's getting up on all fours, but no crawling notions yet.  We are so proud of how she's doing despite being set back a few months. She's been grabbing my face for open mouth kisses and it's everything.

She's still mainly breastfeeding at this point for nutrition.  We introduced solids last month towards the end, so this month we've been working on slowly fine tuning actually swallowing food and not just pushing it out of our mouth.  She's getting better!  She has liked every food we have given her thus far.  We have tried pumpkin, sweet potato, peas, apple, oatmeal and bananas. She's nursing around 5-6 times during the day and now nurses 1-2 times at night (new thing...ugh).

Sleep.  Ugh.  This month was a month of regression. Waking up every night twice a night and the first time usually a hour after I've fallen asleep.  I'm dying on the inside.  I'm doing both wake feedings since it's quicker, but ugh I'm so miserable. She's napping great, still 3 times a day, 1-2 hours at a time.  She still will fall asleep in our arms and contact nap.  We will hold onto that for as long as she'll let us.

This month was full of holidays!  She enjoyed her first Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years!  She loved the tissue paper the best.  She even got to ring in the year with us at our little NYE party!

She's just the best and I love every day we spend with her more and more.  She just completes us so well.
