I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Eeekkkkk!  Our littlest is half a year old!  Um...wow!  Our sweet Scarlett is growing up so fast! This month we started seeing some new things she's trying out.  We started trying to work on sitting up!  She's solid for about a minute or two then collapses like a soup sandwhich!  It's hard to believe we're almost to the sitting up stage.  Crazy!  She prefers being on her belly vs her back.  She literally flips so fast onto her belly always!  She scoots, rolls and gets to where she wants to go but it's not quite army crawling yet.

This girl smiles SO much now!  She laughs too but it's the cute grunt/gasp sound.  Not like Norah's big belly laughs but we'll see how they develop.  She still laughs at our baby sounds, when her sister goes running/screaming through the house and when Zeus licks her feet.

We've made it six months breastfeeding!  Girl loves her milk and still prefers breast to bottle.  I've got a deep freeze full of milk but we aren't having to tap into my stash like I thought we would so I've contacted the milk bank to try to put it to use before it expires. Scarlett was only 5% in weight on the growth chart at her 4 month appt but at her 6 month check up she'd moved up to 10%!  She's just a slow slow gainer.  Such an opposite from her sister!

The biggest adjustment we've have to make recently is me going to night shift.  I'm no longer able to nurse Scarlett to sleep on the nights I work so she's had to adjust to taking a bottle before bed and rocking with Dad.  It's been two weeks and she's finally accepting that bottle before bed, poor thing!  At least I'm always there in the morning ready to feed her when she wakes up.

Our sweet girl is still sleeping through the nights.  She's woken up a few times for my husband when I'm not home, but he just heats up a bottle and she goes back down pretty quickly.  She is still napping twice a day for 1-2 hours at a time and will literally fall asleep anywhere, anyhow.  Easy baby.

We got to try some new things with her this month!  First, she got to go for her first swim!  Who doesn't just love a baby in a bathing suit??  Also, she got to road trip out of state for the first time...Arkansas to see the grandparents!  She did great and really loved her Maka.

We also got to start feeding her solids!  I'm a big proponent for waiting until 6 months.  I've read many studies suggesting not only are the solids at this stage not packed full of calories like they need but their bacteria in their stomachs aren't ready for it until at least 6 months old.  Her first food was sweet potato and she loved licking it off the spoon!  Now she grabs for our plates and anything she sees us putting in our mouths.  We've had to watch Norah extra closely too because she sees us giving baby pieces of food to hold and suck but we don't want Norah giving her things she can't handle yet.
