I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Promotion to 1st Lt

Moving on up!

I promoted this last weekend after 1.5 years as a 2nd Lt in the Air Force. Usually it takes 2 years, but since I commissioned but didn't actually go on active duty for almost a year, the AF cut us a break and promoted me this time 6 months early. In all reality making 1st Lt isn't that big of a deal. You're still a Lt, bright-eyed, new just slightly seasoned. The only real big deal is the awesome raise that comes with it! My unit did a little ceremony for me and thankfully my husband was there to pin my new rank on. I think it's just awesome that's he been there from the very beginning of my military career and continues to stick by my side. I'm a lucky girl!

Hello new Lt status!

This is from when I first pinned on butter bars...

Time, the base, the rank may all change but as long as this guy continues to stand by my side then that's all I'll ever need.

Fall in Florida

Fall is by far, my favorite season of the year. I love the cool weather, that's just warm that the cold doesn't bite at your nose, hands, face but still cool enough that I don't sweat like a pig and can really enjoy the outdoors to it's fullest. Here in the panhandle of Florida, the weather really started tapering off this season around the beginning of October and now by the end of October the high is on average around 75 degrees and sunny. Perfect. We're taking full advantage by turning off the a/c (hello lower electric bill!), keeping the windows open always and airing out our house, running trails and even running in the afternoons, which was pretty dangerous a month ago when the temps were high 90's in the afternoons. Don't get me wrong, we're not sporting sweat pants just quite yet but it feels nice to take evening dog walks and need a jacket. The leaves don't quite change here though like they did back at home in Oklahoma and we do miss that.

Here's some pictures of our first fall fun in Florida!

Cooler wx = more outdoor time!

First time to decorate for fall!

Nothing like soccer on a brisk day
We made a pretty cool decision recently...bought our first car together. We traded in our truck and got a Hyundai Tuscon! A little surprise my husband sprang on me after work one day. We had talked about it previously, just didn't know he landed the deal! The coolest thing about it is, per Dave Ramsey, we don't have any car payments! First time for us to EVER pay for a vehicle in full. Go Us.

The same week we landed the sweet deal with the car, I also promoted and pinned on 1st Lt! As my husband says now, "I got myself a suga momma for sure!"

We have struck up a new thought process within the last couple years of our marriage. Celebrate the little things. Insert joy and wonderful memories anywhere you can in life. So, we're celebrating our first fall in Florida together, enjoying the new vehicle, promotion and life in general. Cheers!!

Painting

Recently within the last year I've taken up a new hobby. Painting! I found out about classes at our visual arts center through a coworker's wife. I was really hesitant at first because I can't even draw a decent stick figure! The classes they offer are taught by professionals that go through each step with you, and luckily full of patience. I find this new hobby of mine calming, relaxing and incredibly rewarding. Here are pictures of what I've painted so far!

I started this originally because I needed something to occupy my evenings while my husband was deployed, but now I find myself really loving it. I'll definitely continue to take classes and hopefully be able to gift some of them eventually when my walls start to fill!
