McVay Party of 4!



If we didn't have enough going on this year with law school, nursing school and finding full time jobs we added one more adventure to the plate!  I haven't seen the doc quite yet, but by my calculations and the ultrasound I'm due December 7th!



I actually found out on April 1st, of all days!  That night my husband and I were attending his Law Ball so I saved the news for then and gave him this funny cookie!




We waited until the window for delivery would be after all our finals, boards, etc so we are so excited to add one more to our family!  We decided to wait and tell our family at Norah's second birthday party.  We couldn't pass up the opportunity!

We're SO busy this time around, so I'm going to try to keep up with updates and pictures for this sweet bump as well.  We can't wait until this Winter!

Crossfit Open 2017

I finally wasn't pregnant for an open and took the dive!  My local box makes a huge production for this and it really added to the hype to want to join in on the fun.  Friday night lights for 5 weeks was a blast!

WOD 1

For time:
10 dumbbell snatches
15 burpee box jump-overs
20 dumbbell snatches
15 burpee box jump-overs
30 dumbbell snatches
15 burpee box jump-overs
40 dumbbell snatches
15 burpee box jump-overs
50 dumbbell snatches
15 burpee box jump-overs
Women use 35-lb. dumbbell and 20-in. box







WOD 2

Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 12 minutes of:
2 rounds of:
  50-ft. weighted walking lunge
  16 toes-to-bars
  8 power cleans
Then, 2 rounds of:
  50-ft. weighted walking lunge
  16 bar muscle-ups
  8 power cleans
Etc., alternating between toes-to-bars and bar muscle-ups every 2 rounds.
Women use 35-lb. dumbbells




WOD 3

Prior to 8:00, complete:
3 rounds of:
    6 chest-to-bar pull-ups
    6 squat snatches, 65 lb.
Then, 3 rounds of:
    7 chest-to-bar pull-ups
    5 squat snatches, 95 lb.
*Prior to 12:00, complete 3 rounds of:
    8 chest-to-bar pull-ups
    4 squat snatches, 135 lb.
*Prior to 16:00, complete 3 rounds of:
    9 chest-to-bar pull-ups
    3 squat snatches, 155 lb.
*Prior to 20:00, complete 3 rounds of:
    10 chest-to-bar pull-ups
    2 squat snatches, 175 lb.
Prior to 24:00, complete 3 rounds of:
    11 chest-to-bar pull-ups
    1 squat snatch, 185 lb.
*If all reps are completed, time cap extends by 4 minutes.










WOD 4 - St Patrick's Day

Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 13 minutes of:
55 deadlifts, 155 lb.
55 wall-ball shots, 14-lb. ball to 9-ft. target
55-calorie row
55 handstand push-ups







WOD 5

10 rounds for time of:
9 thrusters, 65 lb.
35 double-unders









Strong Like Mom


Overall I did 4/5 WODs RX, awesome for my first Open.  I didn't think I could be able to do it mostly RX.

From our box I was 4th in women's, 12th out of everyone

State - 350/1385 (top 25%)

Region - 3510/11670

Worldwide - 45,791/153,241

Not bad for a almost 30 year old on her first CrossFit Open!  I'm really proud of myself and can't wait to see what progress takes place over the next years to come.
