I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Here I sit typing with a baby another month older.  This month has been our favorite!  I hope to say that about every month.  We're really enjoying her much more now that she's more aware and awake. This month brought many fun things for our family!  First, Norah had her first fecal projectile moment all over Dad!  He cried out for help and all I could do was wipe the tears away from laughing so hard.

We taught her a new game, having her stick her tongue out at us when we do it!  It's really too cute, and my husband loves it.

On top of me battling thrush (yeast infection in my nipples thanks to FL's humidity!) I also had the lovely experience of healing a nasty abscess inside the top of my ass crack.  Yes, it was as nasty as it sounds, and even more so when I had to have my poor midwife slice it open to drain it.  Why does this matter to Norah?  Well I couldn't sit down for a week because the pain was UNBEARABLE, so we have to get creative when nursing.  My friend suggested I try laying down to nurse, but I was skeptical.  I tried it when she was a few weeks old and we just couldn't get it down.  Well we had to try something, and luckily it worked!  It's actually my favorite nursing position.  We both love the skin to skin and lovely eye contact from the position.  Also I love starting and ending my nursing day with her like that.  Yay for a new nursing position!

Next was my husband's first Father's Day weekend!  We picked blueberries (I even nursed her for the first time standing up in the k'tan!), gave her her first water bath, and had her first dip in the ocean.  Lot's of firsts for her!

Finally we ended the month with her first vacation.  Orlando, FL with the grandparents!  We finally got our first date night solo since March (thanks Craig and Darla!), then road tripped the next day 7 hours to Orlando, FL.  She did really well in the car for hating her car seat.  We had fun at IKEA, the aquarium, wax museum and she slept like a champ for the first time in her pack n play.  For the 4th of July we went and visited my husband's extended family and ended the holiday with an awesome fireworks show.  Norah even got to go swimming in the pool for the first time.

We ended the month with starting a new bedtime routine of reading to her now that she's more aware.

Breastfeeding has become so much easier this second month.  I'm not quite to the point where I'm "enjoying" it, but I'm getting there.  I'm sure I'll enjoy it after I return to work and crave that bond we have after a long day away from her.  Speaking of working, she finally has a babysitter for when I return to work!  She'll be on base with me at the CDC (Child Development Center) so that I can nurse her during my lunch break.  Huge relief to me because the waiting list is SO incredibly long, so I'm over the moon that we got a spot.  I also have about 130 oz of breast milk frozen in our freezers.  My husband likes to brag about that to our visitors when they open our freezer, so funny.  I hope to have 200 oz by the time I return to work.

My do we fall in love with her more and more each day.  We swear sometimes that we wake up and she's bigger the next day!  Our favorite time of the day with her is in the morning.  My husband fetches her from the bassinet, changes her, then I give her breakfast and we spend the next moments just all smiling and cuddling with her.  She's definitely the happiest in the morning!  She and my husband are both sleeping through the night from about 9-10pm to 6-7 am.  I on the other hand still wake up at 3 or 4am to pump because it builds my stash up and I don't want my supply to suffer since Prolactin levels are highest at night.  We work daily on tummy time, standing her up to strengthen her legs and doing silly things to make her smile.  She's changing and growing so fast before our eyes, and we're soaking up every second we can together.
