I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Scarlett Kay: 1 Month Old

Weigh and Height: 7lbs 6 oz and didn't catch her length

Diapers: NB

Clothes: NB

Eating: 7=8 times a day

Sleeping: Some nights only wakes once, others wakes every 2-3 hours!

Our baby baby is 1 month old!  I feel like I was just blogging about being 37 weeks pregnant.  Time flies with a newborn, 2.5 year old and little sleep!  Read about how she came into our lives here Scarlett's Birth Story

Scarlett is pretty easy going when she's not gassy or hungry!  She sleeps through all of Norah's screams and shouts.  We have found ourselves calling her our little bird because when she's hungry she just looks at us with her mouth incredibly wide open!  It's so funny.  Since she was a few weeks early she slept a lot those first few weeks.  So much so I had to wake her up to feed her.  I still have to do that occasionally if she sleeps more than 4 hours during the day, but not usually.

After she was born we celebrated her first holiday, Thanksgiving!  We had to celebrate in the hospital but it was fun nonetheless.  We celebrated with our family a few days later at home.  Then we had our weight check with the pediatrician and she was right on target.  She hit birth weight exactly by two weeks!

Happy TG!

As far as breastfeeding goes, she's been so much easier.  I don't know if it's because I nursed her sister for almost 2.5 years so I'm well practiced or if she's just easier.  The biggest difference is we didn't have to use a nipple shield.  That's a game changer, so much easier to feed when you aren't carrying around one of those things.  She latched right away and drinks great.  I don't go back to work for another two months, so I'll start working on a stash next week.  My awesome Mom bought us a freezer for Christmas so now I actually have room for a stash, so excited!!

Like I mentioned above, sleeping still isn't on a pattern yet which is completely expected.  Some nights we get 6 hours of straight sleep...other nights I'm up every 2-3 hours begrudgingly feeding her.  She has that horrible newborn grunting/throat clearing sounds at night and it drives my husband mad.  He's such a light sleeper.  It will resolve itself in a few months but until then he'll be counting down.  Poor guy!

As far as big sister goes, she's loves her to pieces!  She calls her "Scar-Day".  She's deinitely Mama's big helper and fetches things that I need when I can't get up or walk away.  She always gives her big hugs and kisses and when she's not in a room with us she questions where she's at.  Scarlett loves to watch her jump around and turns her head to the sound of her voice.  When she roots at Norah's face Norah thinks its just the best thing!  When Scarlett cries Norah always says "Baby hungry, needs milk!"

Miss Scarlett we love you so much and can't wait to see you grow.  You have completed our little family!
