I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

McFamily Vacation to Seattle/Canada

We really wanted to take a trip this summer and take advantage of me being on leave for 6 weeks.  We of course first thought of Europe, but realized it was probably a little soon for Miss Norah and costly so we settled on something a little closer to home.  We have close friends and a cousin that live in Seattle plus it's hopefully our future home in a few years which made the location decision easy.  We packed our bags, bassinet, car seat and took a long flight to Seattle!  Norah did great on the plane, but we encountered a 4 hour flight delay so the poor thing was out way past her bedtime.  We feared it would screw up her sleep schedule, but she didn't miss a beat.

Norah's first flight!

Tummy time even at the airport

Safety first

Held her for the full 4 hour leg

Mommy's turn

Finally we caught a break and an empty seat!

We got in to Seattle at about 4am!  The next day we walked around the city, and met up with my cousin Jade!  She was so excited to meet Norah for the first time.

Second cousins!

Norah's first ferris wheel!

She got a meal with a view!

Aunt Brie wanted to try the Ergo

Ending the day with local cider from the tap!
The next day we woke up early and drove the 3 hours north to Vancouver Canada!  Crossing the border wasn't too long of a wait, and since we drove Norah didn't need a passport, just her birth certificate.  For our lodging we decided to book a private area with Air BnB.  If you're traveling with children I highly suggest it.  Basically people will rent out rooms, suites or their entire home to you.  We stayed in this couple's basement, and it was perfect.  Also so much cheaper than a hotel!

Studying up before she explores!

My bed testers!

So many of these crates around our suite so I had to put her in one!

I highly recommend if flying with an infant this traveling bassinet.  Folded flat in my husband's suitcase and it beats a pack n play any day!  Plus it still has breathable sides.  We just kept it on the floor but you could put in between you in the bed too.

We settled in then set out exploring Vancouver via the city bus and on foot!

Her first boat ride and the boat's name was Nora!

The next day we hit the Capilano Suspension Bridge/Cliff Walk/Tree Top walk.  It was incredible!  I definitely recommend getting there when they open at 8:30am.  We arrived at 9am and luckily saw the main attractions before they became to cramped.

Selfie stick moment!

I just love her little feet!

Sleepy girl

Finally had to wake her up!
Afterwards we ate at a yummy local cafe and finally tried Canadian poutine!  Then onward home to Seattle!

She was worried they would't let her back in the US!

We celebrated our last day in Seattle naturally with a hike.  My husband and I LOVE to be outdoors and hike.  Seattle has some of the most beautiful landscapes we've ever hiked, so it's a must every time we visit.  We hope Norah will love the outdoors as much as we do!

Hiking makes her hungry!

When nature calls...

We ended the day with a shopping trip to the local market for dinner, naps and great conversation on the balcony breathing in the cool Seattle air.

Nap time

She turned 12 weeks on her vacation!

Happened to hear her first giggle together after our hike!  It melted our hearts!  So Daddy had to take a selfie.

Only 5 bags (I was wearing one) and a carseat! Had to take the pump or it would have only been 4 bags

We had SUCH a wonderful time.  We were a little timid about taking our EBF almost 3 month old across the US, into Canada, and back again for a week.  She completely surprised us, and I'm so glad we did it.  As for traveling with a baby, breastfeeding helped a lot.  I could feed her wherever, whenever (as you saw on the ferris wheel and even in the woods!) without hauling around bottles, extra water or formula. She slept in a small travel bassinet and we didn't even pack a stroller.  The Ergo was perfect for keeping her soothed and mobile.  The airplane ride was smooth as long as I had her eating during the descent to pop her ears.  Cheers to many more family adventures in our future!
